Assassin's Creed Rogue and Assassin's Creed Unity release date is today, with a bloodbath of a trailer to boot.

Two of Ubisoft's biggest titles launch on US shores today, in Europe and Australia on the November 13. Ubisoft preps fans with revealing trailers for both titles, and Assassin's Creed Rogue makes up for the disappointment of Assassin's Creed: Black Flag.

The Assassin's Creed Rogue trailer teases Shay Cormac's backstory, particularly his indoctrination into the Templar order. The tease itself is thick with bloodshed and betrayal, in line with the pirate storyline angle of Black Flag.

The sequel to Assassin's Creed Black Flag offers action on the high seas; fans of the series can also enjoy the gameplay dynamic of stealth and ambush with Assassin's Creed Unity, set in the backdrop of the French Revolution.

Ubisoft kept the historical details intact in Assassin's Creed Unity, using actual personalities of the era as part of the game. Production Manager Jeffrey Spice, in an interview with Fairfax Media, comments on the details:

"We have historians on team who we work with closely, especially from the character standpoint. For era-specific clothing, from the bourgeois down to the peasants, we found a lot of evidence and records regarding the clothing of the time."

Assassin's Creed Unity and Assassin's Creed Rogue launches on five platforms, on the PlayStation 3 and 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and on the PC.

Unity will be available on two versions on the Xbox Store; a Gold Edition which comes with downloadable content, at $89.99, and a "regular" release priced at $59.99, which comes with a special sword. There's an exclusive, special mission ("Chemical Revolution") featured in both versions.

Even though fans have reservations with Assassin's Creed Rogue, the trailer and the simultaneous launch with Unity should boost sales and interest in the sequel to Black Flag (christiantoday.com).
