‘Uncharted’ Movie Cast: ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Star Chris Pratt Steps Out After Mark Wahlberg? New Director Looks For New Bid For Lead Role As Nathan Drake

Chris Pratt has reportedly opted out from draft of the "Uncharted" movie cast, as is Mark Wahlberg.

"Uncharted" movie news is still missing a lead role, as anticipation for the film adaptation of the game lingers. The "Guardians of the Galaxy" star was supposed to be considered to play the part of Nathan Drake, the protagonist of Drake's Fortune and the Uncharted series.

Chris Pratt, who'll star in a lead role in "Jurassic World" in 2015, reportedly passed on an offer for reasons undisclosed. Director David O. Russell was previously involved in the project, and "Transformer: Age of Extinction" star Mark Wahlberg was eyed and later dropped out of the role.

Seth Gordon of "Horrible Bosses" and "Identity Thief" will direct.

Mark Boal of "The Hurt Locker" will also be one of the screenplay writers. Boal's involvement in "serious" films like "The Hurt Locker" and "Zero Dark Thirty" makes him an odd pick for the "Uncharted" movie, but he's reported to be a big fan of the game (gamespot.com).

Seth Gordon comments in an earlier interview on his ideal pick for the role of Nathan Drake:

"I want it to be a great actor. That's number one, and then if it's someone who has an actual jaw, that's even better. The game is so well done that you need it to live up to that. There's no way we'd do the inverse of that where it's somebody famous who can't [act]."

"I love the complexity and frankly the sophistication of the storytelling in the game, and we aspire to that--but don't want to tell the exact same story, of course--so something that doesn't break the rules of what it did but expands. Because I feel like the people who play the games and know them well don't want to just see the same story told. You want extra shades," Gordon comments.

"Limitless" director Neil Burgess was also briefly involved in plans for the "Uncharted" movie, but dropped out in 2012.
