'American Idol' season 14 will be airing in January without the last member of the show's original judging panel.

Randy Jackson finally decided to part ways with the survival program after being on board for 13 years, first as a judge then as a mentor. Former judges Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul each left the show several seasons ago.

"After 13 seasons, I felt now was the perfect time to leave," Jackson told Deadline. "I'm proud to have been a part of a series that discovered some incredible artists and will go down in history as one of the most successful television shows ever. A true original, 'Idol' started it all. Onto what's next."

He earlier decided to leave 'Idol' after 12 seasons but eventually came back to take over Jimmy Iovine's mentor position for season 13's Rush Week.

With Jackson's exit from the Fox program, the role of in-house mentor has been left vacant. Who will take on this role?

Past finalists Chris Daughtry, David Cook, and Adam Lambert all had a chance to work with the newer contestants. Lambert, meanwhile, will come back as a guest judge for the upcoming season in the New York auditions to fans' delight.

Lambert was also considered as a judge in the past season, but eventually became a guest advisor instead. Will he be willing to keep that post permanently? Even for just one season?

Although this scenario would be agreeable to Lambert's fans, the Grammy nominee still has to complete a UK and European tour with legendary rock group Queen next year.

The collaboration between the two amazing artists have been met with raving reviews and high demand, prompting organizers to add several more shows for the UK leg of the tour.

How do you feel about Randy Jackson leaving the show? Do you think Adam Lambert should become the in-house mentor for 'American Idol' season 14?
