"Half Life 3" release date news claim that even though fans have the best intention to persuade Valve to work on the much awaited installment through crowd funding, the move could prove to be a failure even before it started.

Air Herald reports that the campaign to speed up the "Half Life 3" release date at IndieGoGo aims to haul a total of $150,000. But despite best efforts, the campaign has only managed to rack a measly sum of about $1600 with only a week left on their clock.

"The problem with trying to get Half Life 3 made is that Valve are well aware that lots of fans want to see it. They don’t need a billboard driving past their offices to tell them they’d make money on a new instalment. Their decision and reasoning has already been put in to action, they’re developing other games and can’t just stop and jump back to Half Life," Air Herald reported.

With limited information and vague responses from Valve, fans are left to wonder if the highly anticipated new game will ever be launched.

Valve Founder Gabe Newell has given countless interviews about the new game's development, but all of them remain uncertain about the latest installment's fate.

"Half Life 3" release date rumors even surfaced before and during the E3 2014 that Valve will finally announce the official launch date of the latest instalment. But that didn't happen, leaving fans disheartened once again.

But perhaps the biggest disappointment would be Valve not giving "Half Life" fans a proper ending. Den of Geek explained:

"Fast-forward to seven years later. The series is basically comatose. What's worse is that Gordon Freeman, the protagonist of the series, wasn't even put back to sleep at the end of Episode 2. He's still in that hangar, watching Alyx mourning her father's death, and waiting to continue his mission against the Combine. He stands in the whiteness of time, listening to the buzzing silence."
