"Half Life 3" release date rumors continue to spread. With no official confirmation, fans are left to wonder when the new game will materialize.

New reports speculate that the reason why the latest installment hasn't been launched yet has something to do with Steam Machines.

As KpopStarz reported, "Some fans put the blame on Valve in not giving any specifics but it seems that the fingers are being pointed elsewhere. GamingBolt revealed what Managing Director of Equity Research at Wedbush Securities' Michael Patcher has to say about it and it seems that the lad blames the Steam Machines.

If there is a gaming title to launch with a brand new console, it is Half Life 3. Patcher believes that the Steam Machines development has been the reason for Half Life 3's delay. After all, doing so will only boost the sales of the Machines by a greater margin."

Steam Machines "is a line of pre-built gaming computers that began being manufactured and distributed by a number of vendors using a range of different design specifications outlined by Valve Corporation," Wikipedia explained.

Because of the success of the first 2 "Half Life" games, fans are clamouring for a third instalment. "Half Life 3" release date rumors even surfaced before and during the E3 2014 that Valve will finally announce the official launch date of the latest instalment. But that didn't happen, leaving fans disheartened once again.

But why exactly is "Half Life 3" taking so long? Newell offered an explanation, somehow citing "Steam" as a possible culprit.

"So, if somebody becomes the group manager of X, they're going to really resist it when X is not what you want to do in the next round of games. You don't want them to sort of burrow into that - you want them to recognize that being really good at Half-Life level design is not as nearly as valued as thinking of how to design social multi-player experiences. You've had them feel like they have an organization and title tied up to something when the key is to just continue to follow where the customers are leading."
