"The Stand" movie 2014 has been confirmed, and will be stretched out into four feature-length films.
Stephen King's "The Stand" movie 2014 is set in stone, as director Josh Boone ("The Fault in Our Stars") confirms plans for a four-part series, with production hopefully to start next year.
Stephen King previously hinted the film adaptation of "The Stand" will span four movies instead of one, as the director claimed. The original novel ran at least eight hundred pages long, and the TV adaptation was a mini-series which ran for a total of six hours.
The original novel was divided into three parts, "Captain Trips," "On the Border," and "The Stand," and it's likely the fourth installment to the film will be a two-part finale in the same way "The Hunger Games - Mockingjay" was adapted.
It's reported the ensemble will involve A-list actors, including Matthew McConaughey who's rumored to play the villain Randall Flagg.
Josh Boone comments on his initial plans for the "The Stand" movie 2014 and the cast:
"I really wanted to do an A-list actor, really grounded, credible version of the movie... I sold [Warner Bros.] on a single, three hour movie... So what happened is the script gets finished, I write it in like five months. Everybody loves it. [Stephen] King loves it. $87 million is what it was budgeted at. Really expensive for a horror drama that doesn't have set pieces... They came back and said 'Would you do it as multiple films?' and I said 'F**k yes!'... So I think we are going to do like four movies." (screenrant.com)
The project has yet to start production, hopefully next Spring. Boone has little to divulge regarding updates.
"I can't tell you anything about how we're going to do them or what's going to be in which movie. I'll just say we are going to do four movies, and we're going to do 'The Stand' at the highest level you can do it at with a cast that's going to blow people's minds. We've already been talking to lots of people, and have people on board in certain roles that people don't know about."
"The Stand" movie 2014 release date is yet to be determined, produced by Warner Bros. and CBS Films.
