Sci-fi seems to be steadily increasing in popularity as a spate of movies revolving around this genre have been cropping up lately, with Christopher Nolan's epic Interstellar -- which has been doing incredibly well at the box office, and HBO's go ahead of the highly anticipated sci-fi TV series Westworld, starring Anthony Hopkins. Now, one of the biggest Hollywood actors is reportedly dipping his toes in the sci fi universe with a new movie project.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Plan B, which is Brad Pitt's movie production company will be producing a science fiction movie called Alpha. Brad Pitt's movie company Plan B has been quite successful both critically and commercially for the movies it has been producing. They're behind movies such as the zombie movie World War Z and the Academy Award-winning 12 Years A Slave.
The A-list actor is reportedly working with author Daniel H. Wilson, who is best known for being the author of Robopocalypse, Robogenesis, and How To Survive A Robot Uprising. Wilson, who has a doctorate degree in robotics at Carnegie Mellon will contribute his expertise in this new addition to the list of Brad Pitt movies to date.
Meanwhile, up and coming Canadian filmmaker Anthony Scott Burns will be directing Alpha, which will mark his foray into full length feature film making. Previously, Burns became popular for a trailer he made as a fan of the Jeff Bridges movie Tron, and a science fiction short called Manifold.
Lionsgate has reportedly picked up Alpha and other than this being a science fiction themed feature, very little is known about this brand new Brad Pitt movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie "it is known to be a sci-fi survival story that has shades of Jack London, the author behind such tales as White Fang and The Call Of The Wild."
