The blond bombshell took to social media to announce the said project, posting: "So excited! I've waited so long to be in a game! Check me out!"
The promotional video showed Kate Upton as goddess Athena. Her character had on a white gown and gold accessories, and made her way through a battlefield and fire-breathing dragon.
The Breathecast report narrated how some of the game's players questioned Kate Upton's latest project following her nude photo leak.
One gamer asked: "Does Anyone Think Kate Upton Has Actually Played Game Of War: Fire Age?"
A fan pointed out: "Something makes me think that Upton has never tried the game she's asking us to 'come and play with me'."
Aware that her involvement in "Game Of War: Fire Age" is being criticized, the model issued a statement. Kate Upton explained: "It is fantastic to be instrumental in the start of a new era in gaming and communications."
"I love playing the part of Athena-she's such a bad-a** character, commanding armies, slaying hydra, charging into battle-the work shows how much fun it is, and I am proud to be part of it," she said.

According to a report from The Inquisitr, the Sports Illustrated model resembles the controversial game's beach girl character more than actress Lindsay Lohan. A rep for the 22-year-old model has issued a statement, which described the Kate Upton nude photo leak as "an outrageous violation of our client Kate Upton's privacy."
"We intend to pursue anyone disseminating or duplicating these illegally obtained images to the fullest extent possible," Kate Upton's statement read.
