Pacquiao Mayweather 2015 Fight In Serious Talks; HBO And Showtime Executives In Negotiations; Bob Arum Confirms A Serious Deal Is Being Arranged, Freddie Roach Skeptical

The pressure for the Pacquiao Mayweather 2015 fight is on, with the latter considering retirement September next year.

The Pacquiao Mayweather 2015 fight is long-drawn and plagued with delay issues. Both Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. have been doing the dance for years now, with Maywheater taunting to pick a fight without actually committing to it.

Bob Arum stirred talks of the matchup a few weeks during promotion for the Pacquiao-Algieri fight; though the real issue of the delay has something to do with splitting the purse of earnings than the actual slugfest, Bob Arum named CBS and HBO executives involved in making the match-up happen.

Asked if the update was meant to drum up hype for the Pacquiao-Algieri fight, Arum commented:

"I don't give a sh-- about convincing anyone of anything, but there are talks, and I believe for the first time people are serious. I am under an agreement not to say anything about anything, but it's not a lot of bullsh--. The chances are greater now that it will happen than it's been in years, and I think the only impediment, a major impediment, is if Algieri upsets Pacquiao on Saturday. Serious people are involved."

It's fortunate the outfits involved in 2002's Lennox Lewis - Mike Tyson fight are on opposite ends of the negotiations: HBO has Pacquiao under contract while Showtime has Mayweather. The deal for the Lewis and Tyson fight materialized and resulted in the highest-grossing boxing match of its time.

News of Mayweather mulling over retirement by September 2015 also fuels talks of a Pacquiao Mayweather 2015 fight, or at the very least, forces the hands of promoters to make things happen.

Pacquiao's coach Freddie Roach remained skeptical about the arrangement, though. "I hope it's true, but I don't see it happening. I don't see it It's been three to four years. It should have happened by now. What makes it different this time?

If Manny looks good against Algieri, it will make Mayweather say no even more, so I just laugh at all this. Negotiating the money alone won't happen. They'll never agree on the split Mayweather wants. There's a lot of work to be done, and I don't think it's possible."

The Pacquiao Mayweather 2015 fight could be the last chance at a square-off for both players, stay posted for updates (credits to Dan Rafael of espn.com for the interview).
