Which phablet is worth the purchase? We compare the Nokia Lumia 1520 and the Lenovo Vibe Z2 to see which device is better.

In terms of design and display, both phablets have a rectangular body shape with slightly rounded corners and flat backs, but the Nokia Lumia 1520 has rounder edges. The Nokia device has a plastic rear panel, while the Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro is a sleek smartphone with a metallic look and a thickness of only 7.77 mm, with 1 mm less than its rival.

Both devices have same screen size of 6 inches, the Lenovo device is shorter, measuring 156mm, the Lumia 1520 being almost 6mm taller. The Nokia device weighs 209 grams, with 30 grams more than its rival and uses Corning Gorilla Glass 2 to protect its front panel, while the Lenovo device has Corning Gorilla Glass 3. They also have IPS LCD screens as the Lenovo’s screen supports a higher resolution of 1440x2560 pixels with 490ppi, while the Nokia's screen offers 1080×1920 pixels and 367ppi.

For the hardware and OS, the Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro is powered by a faster processor quad core 2.5 GHz Krait 400, backed by a newer Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset, but it uses the same graphics from Adreno 330 as the Nokia Lumia 1520. However, the second model was equipped with a quad core 2.2GHz Krait 400, which sits on a Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset with 2GB of RAM, while the Lenovo phablet offers 1GB more. The Lenovo phablet comes with 32GB of storage, but doesn't support a microSD card for expansion, while the Nokia device is available in 16 or 32GB of storage whose capacities can be increased up to 64GB.

The Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro runs on Android v4.4.2 (KitKat) and the Nokia Lumia 1520 comes with Microsoft Windows Phone 8 OS, which can be upgraded to v8.1.

For battery and camera specs, both batteries are non-removable and since the devices are huge, they needed monster -batteries. The Lenovo integrated a Li-Po 4000 mAh battery into its Vibe Z2 Pro, while Nokia opted for a Li-Ion 3400mAh battery, which resists almost one day when talking on 3G.

The Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro has a 16MP rear camera with unique features including optical image stabilization, dual-LED flash, autofocus, HDR, touch focus etc., but we have words of praise about its secondary camera as well, which has a resolution of 5MP. The Nokia Lumia 1520 takes photos with a 20Mp rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics, optical image stabilization, dual-LED flash, autofocus, which uses PureView technology, but its front camera is very disappointing at 1.2MP.

The Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro cost $537, while the Nokia Lumia 1520 is $80 cheaper and can be purchased from Amazon.com.
