The MBC daily sitcom ended with 113 episodes.
On the 5th, in the last episode of 'Standby', Ryu Jin Haeng (played by Ryu Jin) was upset with Si Wan (played by Im Si Wan) because of his studying abroad issue so he avoided him. However, Jin Haeng saved their relationship by admitting to Si Wan how worried he was over him studying abroad.
Si Wan also looked for Jung So Min (played by Jung So Min) to tell her that he liked her. Jung So Min felt bad for not realizing his feelings, but Si Wan told her it was okay and was very mature about it.
On the day he left Korea, Jin Haeng told Si Wan that he was busy and would not be able to see him off at the airport. Although Ryu Jung Woo (played Choi Jung Woo) was always really hard on Si Wan, he revealed how worried he was for him and showed his tears.
As soon as Si Wan tried to leave, Jin Haeng hurried into the airport. Si Wan cried as he told Jin Haeng, who was worried about him, "I'm worried about leaving you behind because I know how much you'll worry about me. I would like to call you father. Can I do that?" Jin Haeng cried as he replied, "My son, please come back healthy. Don't be sick."
After 1 year, Jin Haeng become successful and became the main MC while Si Wan returned to Korea. Simon D (played by Simon D) became a popular singer. Kim Soo Hyun (played by Kim Soo Hyun) reunited with Ryu Ki Woo (played by Lee Ki Woo). They both admitted their truthful feelings and promised to work together again.
'Standby' ended with everyone on Jin Haeng's new program 'Jin Haeng Show, I Am The Housekeeping King'.
The daily sitcom was part of the fictional "TV11" channel and had various characters that were variety show PDs, scriptwriters, and announcers. It was about the joys and sorrows of their lives. 'High Kick, Counterattack of The Short Legged', the sitcom's predecessor, had received reviews that it had run out of comedic plot points so there was a lot of expectations for 'Stamdby' to bring back the comedy anticipated for a sitcom.
Choi Jung Woo, Park Joon Geum, Ryu Jin, Kim Soo Hyun, Lee Ki Woo, Ha Suk Jin, and etc. and singers, Im Si Wan, Simon D, Kim Ye Won, and etc. attempted to make viewers laugh with a different type of humor. The actors received a lot of attention of breaking their image for the comedic scenes in the beginning.
However, as the series went on, even though they were characters of a sitcom, they became more and more unrealistic. They were so partial to the love lines that they failed at winning the sympathy of the viewers.
The daily sitcom wasn't able to reach double digits in rating and bitterly ended with a lower rating than 'High Kick, Counterattack of The Short Legged'.
'Standby' will be followed by sitcom, 'What Is Mom?'. The new sitcom will air its first episode on October 8th at 7:45 pm.
