Fans of the classic western film "The Magnificent Seven" were thrilled when they found out that MGM is planning to do a remake of John Sturges' 1960 flick. The movie was based on Akira Kurosawa's "Seven Samurai" and stars Steve McQueen, Yul Brynner, James Coburn, Charles Bronson, Brad Dexter, Robert Vaughn, and Horst Buchholz.
I'm sure you are excited to find out who would take over the place of these 1960s hotties and two have already been confirmed. Deadline reported that Chris Pratt is already in talks to join Denzel Washington in the upcoming MGM reboot. "The Magnificent Seven" remake will be directed by Antoine Fuqua, who is known for his works in "Training Day" and "Olympus Has Fallen".
According to the website, Pratt's character isn't specifically modeled after those originals, but the name of his character is Farraday. He could be part of the band of gunslingers who help protect a village from the bandits. The 35-year old actor has wrapped up filming "Jurassic World", which will be released in theaters on June 12, 2015.
Chris Pratt is currently busy with the TV series "Parks and Recreation" and the final season will end by early 2015. He has several movies lined up including "Cowboy Ninja Viking" and "Guardians of the Galaxy 2", but there could still be room for another film.
Screen Rant reported that MGM intends for "The Magnificent Seven" remake to enter production by the first quarter of 2015. According to the website, the reboot will take place not too long after the American Civil War has ended. Since one of Pratt's characters Star-Lord is more of a space cowboy, then he could easily fit in the new movie.
Sources told Variety that talks with Chris Pratt is still in the early stages, but they are progressing. Who else do you want to see star in "The Magnificent Seven" remake?
