Which of these devices is the best purchase: the Samsung Galaxy S4, the Nexus 5, or the LG G2
For the design and display, the Samsung Galaxy S4 measures 136.6×69.8×7.9 mm and has a weight of 130 grams, while the Nexus 5, measures 137.9×69.2×8.6 mm and the LG G2 is slightly taller and 13 grams heavier, having dimensions of 138.5×70.9×8.9 mm, but because it features Corning Gorilla Glass 2, instead of Gorilla Glass 3.
They all have the same 1080×1920 pixels, but the pixel density depends on the size of the display. The Nexus 5 has the smallest screen which is aTrue HD IPS+ and has the highest pixel density of 445ppi. Samsung Galaxy S4 has 5 inch Super AMOLED screen that supports 441ppi, and the LG G2 has 5.2 inches True HD-IPS + LCD screen, that renders 424ppi.
In terms of hardware and OS, the Nexus 5 and the LG G2 have the same chipset and graphics, a Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 quad core Krait 400 processor, clocked at 2.26GHz on the LG device and having a higher clock speed on the Nexus 5 at 2.3GHz, and they’ both use Adreno 330 GPU. The internal memories are available in two variants of 16 and 32GB, which doesn't support an expansion, and they have 2GB of RAM. The SamsugGalaxy S4 has the Exynos 5 Octa 5410 octa core processor, which is formed by a quad core Cortex A15 clocked at 1.6GHz, and a quad core Cortex A7 clocked at 1.2GHz, partnered with the PowerVR SGX544MP3 GPU and 2GB RAM. It comes with two variants of expandable storage: 16 and 32GB, which can be increased up to 64GB with a microSD card, while the third variant is only 64GB.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 and the LG G2 came with Android v4.2.2 Jelly Bean, but now they run on v4.4.2 KitKat. The Nexus 5 came with Android v4.4 KitKat and it will be upgraded to v5.0 Lollipop.
For battery and camera specs, the Nexus 5 has a 2300mAh battery, while the LG G2 has 3000mAh battery and both are non-removavle. The Samsung Galaxy S4 has 2600mAh battery that last 17 hours when talking on 3G.
The Nexus 5 has a 8MP rear camera of 8MP, while both the Samsung and LG have 13MP primary cameras. However, the LG G2 seems to be better at reproducing colors in low-light conditions. Both of smartphones have optical image stabilization, but the Google device can record videos at 1080p@30fps, just like the Samsung handset, while the LG has 1080p@60fps video capture. The Nexus 5 has 1.3MP fron cameras, the Galaxy S4 has a 2MP camera and the LG G2 has a 2.1MP secondary camera.
The Nexus 5 16GB costs $415, the Samsung Galaxy S4 16GB is cheaper at $365, and the LG G2 16GB is even cheaper at $330.
