Which smartphone is worth the purchase? We compare the Nokia X and the Samsung Galaxy S Duos 3 to see which is the better buy.

For the design and display, both devices have their back panels made from plastic, and they have curved edges, but the Nokia X has a rectangular shape, with almost sharp corners, while the Samsung Galaxy S Duos 3 features visibly rounded corners. The Nokia device has only one capacitive button, while the Samsung handset has two capacitive buttons and a physical home button. The devices have almost the same thickness, but the Nokia handset is slightly thinner at 10.4 mm, with 0.4 mm less than the Samsung device, as the rest of its dimensions are 115.5x63 mm, compared to 121.4×62.9 mm.

Both devices have the same resolution of 4 inches screens and supports an identical resolution of 480×800 pixels with 233ppi, only that the Nokia X has an IPS LCD screen, while Samsung Galaxy S Duos 3 opted for a TFT one.

For the hardware and OS, the Nokia X comes with a dual core Cortex A5 processor clocked at 1GHz, backed by a Qualcomm MSM8225 Snapdragon S4 Play chipset and has an Adreno 203 GPU with 512MB of RAM.

The Samsung Galaxy S Duos 3 is powered by a dual core 1.2GHz Cortex A7 processor, but neither the chipset nor the GPU have been mentioned. However, the RAM capacity is 512MB, and likewise, it supports an internal memory of 4GB, with the possibility to increase it up to 32GB.

Both smartphones run on the Android version, and the Nokia handset has v4.1.2 (Jelly Bean), while the Samsung handset operates on v4.4.2 (KitKat).

For the battery and camera specs, both smartphones are equipped with batteries of the same capacity, 1500mAh, and replaceable. The Nokia X can withstand up to 10 hours and a half when talking on 3G, and offers 13 hours and 10 minutes of talk time on 2G

The Nokia X has a 3.15MP single camera on its back, which lacks LED flash, autofocus and comes only with a 1/5” sensor size, panorama and face detection, and which can record videos at a resolution of 480p@30fps. The Samsung Galaxy S Duos 3 has a 5MP camera on its back and a VGA front camera. The main camera features autofocus and LED flash, and has better recording capabilities at 720p@30fps.

The Nokia X cost $122, while the Samsung Galaxy S Duos 3 is $3 cheaper.
