Which smartphone is the ideal choice for consumers? The Nokia Lumia 730 or the Xiaomi Redmi 1S.
In terms of design and display, the Nokia Lumia 730 weighs 130 grams, with a thickness of 8.7 mm, while the Xiaomi Redmi 1S weighs 158 grams and a 9.9 mm thickness, making it the lighter device, but at the same time the thickest. The Xiaomi handset has a matte finish on the back cover but still manages to catch a lot of fingerprints. It comes in a multitude of colors such as grey, yellow, blue, green or red. The Nokia handset offers a good grip due o its curved profile, and also has some interesting color choices like orange or green.
The Nokia device has a 4.7 inch screen that uses the AMOLED technology. The pixel density here is 312 ppi, and it faces competition from a 4.7 inch display using the IPS LCD technology. That is the configuration of the Xiaomi device, which has a 312 ppi pixel density.
For the hardware, the Nokia Lumia 730 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chip which is clocked at 1.2 GHz. The unit is a quad core processor and it is paired with the Adreno 305 GPU which handles the graphic side. The Xiaomi Redmi 1S uses the Cortex A7 chip in combination with the Adreno 305 GPU also. The RAM capacity is the same, 1GB, but the internal memory capacity is bigger on the Lumia because the handset supports 128 GB microSD cards, while the Redmi only supports 32 GB microSD cards. The original memory is the same for both handsets, 8 GB.
For the battery and camera specs, Both smartphones have batteries with a total capacity of 2000 mAh, however the Xaomi handset is able to stay on for as long as 15 hours of 3G talk time, while the Nokia handset can last for 17 and a half hours.
The Nokia device has 6.7 MP Carl Zeiss lens on the rear. The device comes with LED flash and full HD recording capabilities. The front facing side also houses a 5 MP camera which complements the rear one nicely. The Xaiomi has an 8 MP shooter on the rear and a 1.6 MP camera on the front, also being able to record fullHD video.
The Nokia Lumia 730 cost about $228, while the Xaiomi Redmi 1S is about $96.
