'How To Train Your Dragon 2' Gets Golden Globe Nod, Goes Head-To-Head With 'Big Hero 6, 'The Lego Movie;' Sequel Continues To Soar

"How To Train Your Dragon 2" continues to soar!

New reports claim that the hit animation sequel has been nominated for a Golden Globe for best animated feature film. The movie will go head-to head against "The Lego Movie," "Big Hero 6," "The Boxtrolls" and "The Book of Life."

The sequel has enjoyed a successful run both on theaters and on home video. Apart from being named 2014's highest grossing animation, the second installment has also sold over 2 million copies of the film on Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital HD.
According to Variety, "DreamWorks Animation's "How to Train Your Dragon 2," distributed by 20th Century Fox, debuted at No. 1 on both national sales charts its first week in stores, displacing Walt Disney Studios' "Maleficent" full movie as the top-selling disc in the week ending Nov. 16."

'"How to Train Your Dragon 2' was a top summer draw at the box office, earning a domestic box office total of $176.9 million."

The new DVD release will include, "a commentary track, deleted scenes, an almost hourlong making-of doc, profiles of all the dragons and war machines, and a nearly half-hour extra episode featuring the whole gang in a dragon race."

The much loved sequel stars Jay Baruchel (Hiccup), America Ferrera (Astrid), Gerard Butler (Stoick) and Djimon Hounsou (Drago) among many, and has already surpassed other 2014 animation releases like "Rio 2" ($496M) and "The LEGO Movie" ($468M).

Meanwhile, the movie has also been confirmed to return for a third time. "How to Train Your Dragon 3" has been slated for a 2017 release date. Although it is not sure whether fans could expect the return of some notable characters in the first two movies, Hiccup and Toothless will surely make a comeback to wow the audience for the last time.
