Benji Madden is reportedly engaged to Cameron Diaz but the Good Charlotte guitarist first asked the "Annie" actress' mom who readily gave her blessings.

In a report from People, Benji Madden reportedly asked Billie, Cameron Diaz's mother, for her blessing before popping the question to the 42-year-old actress.

"Her mom is a fan of him as well and gave her blessing," the source told the magazine.

Benji Madden and Cameron Diaz's engagement reportedly "happened a few nights ago."

"All of Benji's friends are aware and happy for him," the source added.

Rumors about an engagement have been hounding the couple since they hooked up. But their respective reps remained mum on the issue even if the "Annie" actress has been seen lately wearing a huge ring on her finger.

In another report from Us Weekly, all their friends are so happy for them even if they are an unlikely couple.

"Everyone thinks it's wild but are so happy for them Benji always tends to fall in love easily, but this time it's for real and he landed a great girl, the source told the magazine. "They obviously both make each other incredibly happy and there's nothing better than that."

The magazine said that the rocker just swept Cameron Diaz off her feet because of his "chivalrous ways" as he has proven time and again that he would do anything for her. While there have been rumors about Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden being engaged, there are no details about their wedding plans yet.

According to Hello Magazine, Billie first met Benji Madden when Cameron Diaz took him to the family home in Florida.

"Billie absolutely loved Benji. She has been gushing about the relationship, saying she hopes Cameron settles down with him," the source said.

The magazine also claimed that Benji Madden and Cameron Diaz's engagement won't be long as they have already set the date for early 2015 to tie the knot. "She doesn't really care about getting married but wants babies. He wants to get engaged and married first."
