Which smartphone is worth the purchase? We pit the iPhone 6 against the Motorola Moto X 2014 to see which is better.

For the design and display, the iPhone 6 is slim measuring at 6.9 mm compared , and measures 138.1 mm tall, which means that the size of the screen has also been increased. It has LED-backlit IPS LCD screen measures 4.7 inches and its resolution is 750×1334 pixels and 326ppi. It features shatter proof glass on top of it, but it’s weaker than Corning Gorilla Glass 3 the Motorola Moto X 2014 has.

It has a fingerprint scanner, while the Motorola Moto X 2014 is water resistant. The iPhone 6 weighs 129 grams and the Moto X 2014 is 15 grams heavier, but the second device is bigger, measuring 140.8×72.4×10 mm.

The technology is AMOLED, and partnered with 1080×1920 pixels resolution and 424ppi, it gives a sharp and vibrant images. The smartphone looks a lot like its predecessor, having almost the same design, but with a few additions: the faux horizontal bars from the front panel and the back still has the famous dimple below the rear camera, but it’s filled in with metal. It has an Adreno 330 Gou and 2GB of RAM, and as for the internal memory, users will have to choose between 16 and 32GB, because they won’t be able to add a microSD card for expansion.

The iPhone 6 has a dual-core 1.4 GHz Cyclone processor based on the new and more powerful Apple A8 chipset, which needs only 1GB of RAM. But because it uses a different kind of OS, it doesn't need a stronger configuration, however, the Safari browser lagged with the iOS 8 and after the OS received some updates, this issue has been solved. It also has unexpandable storage, with capacities of 16, 64 and 128GB.

In terms of battery and camera specs, the iPhone 6 has a Li-Po 1810 mAh battery that users can talk around 14 hours but can hold up to 50 hours while listening to music. The Motorola Moto X 2014 comes with a 2300mAh removable battery.

The Apple smartphone has an 8MP back camera with improved features, which include dual-LED flash, phase detection autofocus, 1/3” sensor size, 1.5µm pixel size, HDR etc. The back camera on the Moto X 2014 is at 13MP and it takes great photos if using dual-LED flash in low light conditions. The front cameras are 1.2MP, and 2MP.

The iPhone 6 cost $649 (16GB), $749 (64GB), and $849 (128GB). The Motorola Moto X 2014 cost $488 (16GB).
