Which device is worth the purchase? The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 or the Oneplus One.
In term of design and display, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has a 5.7 inch screen with a high resolution of 1440x2560pixels at 518ppi. It has the Super AMOLED technology famous for delivering bright, vivid, sharp screens, with great contrast rates and color reproduction. The OnePlus One has a screen of 5.5 inch LTPS LCD that runs at 1080x1920pixels and 401ppi.
The Samsung device is taller, wider, thinner and heavier, measuring 153.5×78.6×8.5 mm and weighing 176 grams, while the OnePlus One is 14 grams lighter and measures 152.9×75.9×8.9 mm. Both phablets have thin bezels and their front panels look the same, except that the Note 4 has a big and oval physical button which hides the fingerprint scanner, being surrounded by two capacitive buttons, while the OnerPlus device has three capacitive buttons and doesn’t come with a stylus.
For the hardware and OS, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is powered by two variants of processors, each one being extremely powerful. The first is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core 2.7GHz Krait 450 processor which pairs with an Adreno 420 GPU, while the other variant features an Exynos 5433 octa core processor with two quad core processors clocked at 1.3GHz and 1.9Ghz, which pair with a Mali-T760 GPU. It has 3GB of RAM and came with Android v4.4.4 (KitKat), but it was included on the list of smartphones that will run on the new 5.0 (Lollipop) version. It has an internal memory of 32GB, with the possibility to expansion up to 128GB.
The OnePlus One runs on the previous Android version, after it was upgraded from v4.4.2 (KitKat), and also has 3GB of RAM, but the processor is inferior, being a Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 quad-core 2.5GHz Krait 400, backed by an Adreno 330 GPU. It comes in storage options of 16 and 32GB, but there isn't a microSD card slot available.
For the battery and camera specs, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has a 3220 mAh unit, but because of the larger screen with more pixels, it can last up to 20 hours when talking on 3G. The OnePlus One has a non-removable battery of 3100 mAh with a similar battery life.
The Note 4 features a 16MP back camera with better features, which include optical image stabilization, dual shot, etc., and provides a 3.7MP front camera. The OnePlus handset has a 5MP front camera, but the main camera is 13MP and the only advantage is the dual-LED flash.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 cost $697, while the Oneplus One costs $450.
