Which smartphone is the worth the purchase? The HTC Desire 820 or the Huawei Ascend Mate 7.
For the design and display, the HTC Desire 820 has a plastic case with a two-tone design as it has a 5.5 inches LCD that renders a resolution of 720×1280 pixels with 267ppi. It weighs 155 grams, and measures 7.7 mm and on the front panel. Above and below the screen users will see the dual-front facing stereo BoomSound speakers which are used also on the M8 and M7 models.
The Huawei Ascend Mate 7 has bigger display of 6 inches IPS LCD, and supports a higher resolution of 1080×1920 pixels at 368ppi. It has a metallic body, but it has only one horizontal strip above the rear camera, instead of two and lacks the speakers from the front panel. It’s 0.2 mm thicker than its rival and weighs 185 grams.
In terms of the hardware and OS, the HTC Desire 820 comes with a 64bit Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor with two quad core CPUs clocked at 1.5GHz and 1GHz. If Google won’t upgrade this phone to Android Lollipop, the 64bit chipset will be useless, because it won’t be used as its full capacity. The rest of the internal components are an Adreno 405 GPU, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which supports expansion up to 128GB.
The Huawei Ascend Mate 7 has a 32bit Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 925 octa core processor consisting of two quad core CPUs clocked at 1.8GHz and 1.3GHz. While the GPU is Mali-T628, it has two variants of RAM + internal storage: 2GB of RAM with 16GB of storage and 3GB of RAM and a double memory, but both being expandable up to 128GB if adding a microSD card.
For the camera and battery specs, the HTC handset has a rear camera of 13MP and a front camera of 8MP but its battery won’t last more than 22 hours when talking on 3G because it has a capacity of 2600mAh.
The Huawei handset has the same rear camera as its rival, but the front camera is 5MP, which is slightly weaker than the 8MP shooter. Its battery is at 4100mAh that last 2 days of service.
The HTC Desire 820 cost $370 on Amazon.com, while the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 is at $400.
