Disheartened fans can now play Half Life 3 despite a failed release date confirmation.
Thanks to a Half Life die-hard fan, gamers can now experience what the 3rd installment could have been. According to Autoomobile, "A fan created a gamemod of the Half Life game using Garrys Mod and posted it on Reddit. According to the fan, the story of the game will start 10 years after the Half Life 2 ending where the Combine has already retreated from many cities and a lot of new cities have been liberated."
"The creator created the story base on what the fans are predicting for the Half Life 3. These include predicted storyline and also a connection with the other Valve game Portal 2 since most people think that the two game is connected in many ways."
Valve founder Gabe Newell has pretty much made it clear for the hopefuls that the highly anticipated 3rd installment is not being developed. And should they decide to finally produce the game soon, it will be because of the gamers clamouring to get "closure" of some sort since Half Life 2 episode 2 was launched.
As Motoring Crunch reported, "When questioned about the game, Gabe simply says that he was surprised by the anticipation showed by the fans on Half Life 3. Gabe then concluded the Half Life subject by saying that Half Life 3 won't be released anytime soon as it is not being developed. However, due to the strong interest by the fans, Gabe admitted that the game is possible for production in the future."
Several Half Life 3 release date rumors suggest that fans are disappointed with Newell's latest announcement. Some of the expectant gamers can't seem to accept that Valve has taken 10 years to finally confirm that they are not pursuing the franchise anymore.
As Air Herald reported, "That news hit fans hard but at least it settles the argument, the anguish, and the frustration that fans have been suffering from for years now as they constantly felt that Valve would live up to its promises to finish out the story of the game which was left at a morbid cliffhanger. Now that the official word is out that might turn some people away from Valve because they're not living up to their promises and no one wants to engage in gameplay with an episodic series that isn't episodic."
"The Half Life franchise changed the way video games are produced, developed, and marketed. It blew away fans and critics from day one... Not to have a sequel after leaving fans on a cliffhanger is nothing short of disastrous," it added.
