Insider Confirms Kingdom Hearts 3 Release Date This Year; Voice Actor For Goofy Tweets Updates On Disney RPG, But Game Co-Director Declines Set Launch, Insists They’re Working ‘As Quick As Possible’

The Kingdom Hearts 3 release date was just confirmed by one of its lead voice actors; gamers often take note when someone like Goofy or Pluto speaks out about the next installment in the Disney RPG.

Square Enix is understandably silent on anything about its Disney RPG, notably the Kingdom Hearts 3 release date. There's news the game is slated to launch this year, though, if voice actor Bill Farmer's insider info is confirmed (check out his official tweets).

Bill Farmer's is the voice of Goofy and Pluto in the Disney cartoons and in the Kingdom Hearts games, and has confirmed all the voice work for his character is already complete. Square Enix's teases for the game come in breadcrumbs, with the most recent gameplay trailer released in October 2013.

Farmer only confirmed as far as his voice recordings go, though. He admitted no knowledge of new worlds, as well as plot details; the voice work was recorded prior to any visual reference. If Farmer had any idea on the game's narrative, then it's likely professional courtesy is keeping him from leaking any of it (ign.com).

IGN asked Kingdom Hearts 3 co-director Tai Yasue on updates for the game, particularly the release date, and his response was a vague "as quick as possible," which could mean a ballpark estimate of several years.

Initial rumors peg the Kingdom Hearts 3 release date this May, recently pushed as far as December.

Yasue assures the game's development remains on-track. "[Game Director Tetsuya] Nomura has always been working on Kingdom Hearts III full-time, so nothing's really changed there. Nomura is really the visionary, so he doesn't work on the nitty-gritty details. That's something we do in Osaka; alongside development, we do the technology."

Yasue does reveal the tentative pace of the game's progress in his follow-up statement, though.

"That hasn't really changed. We get Nomura's input but it's not a day-to-day thing, he just has these big ideas sometimes he tells us about. The pace really depends on how our team's doing and that was never affected."
