We compare Apple's new iPhone 6 Plus against the Asus ZenFone 2 to see which smartphone is worth the purchase.
According to reports from the Fuse Joplin, the Asus ZenFone 2's design has a brushed metal body with a metallic band below its screen. The edges of the smartphone is curved, while its corners are rounded, and the physical buttons are found at the back. It measures 152.5×77.2×10.9 mm, and weighs 170 grams. The Asus handset has a display of 5.5 inches, which can render a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels with 403ppi.
Apples iPhone 6's display has the same size as its rival, and can also render a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels but its pixel density is ar 401ppi. The new Apple phablet is thinner 7.1 mm and 2 grams heavier than the Asus handset.
The iPhone 6 Plus and Asus ZenFone 2 have 64 bit processors, but the Asus device can be powered by two sets of quadcores; An Intel Atom Z3580 quadcore 2.3GHz processor, or an Intel Atom Z3560 quadcore 1.8GHz processor and the graphics are a PowerVR G6430. The first variant has a 2GB RAM, while the second variant has 4GB of RAM. Its internal memory is at 16, 32, and 64GB, and when adding a mircro SD card on the first quadcore variant, it can reach up to 6GB as well.
The iPhone 6 Plus phablet on the other hand, is powered by a Apple A8 chipset that supports a Cyclone processor with two cores clocked at 1.4GHz, which is backed by a PowerVR GX6450 GPU and 1GB of RAM. It has an internal storage of 15, 64, and 128GB, but sadly it doesn't have a micro SD card, so it can't be expanded.
Both smartphone have non-removable and with almost the same capacity. The Asus ZenFone 2 has 3000mAh battery capacity, while a 2915 mAh capacity on the iPhone 6 Plus, so clearly the Asus handset has the advantage over the Apple handset.
GSMArena claims that the Asus ZenFone 2 has a PixelMaster camera with a resolution of 13MP, while the front camera is at 8MP. Its features includes a dual-LED flash, HDR, touch focus, face detection, and its can record videos at 1080p@30fps. Meanwhile, the iPhone 6 Plus has an 8MP iSight rear camera with features optical image stabilization, dual-LED flash, 1/3'' sensor size, 1.5µm pixel size, geo-tagging, simultaneous HD video and image recording, touch focus, face/smile detection, HDR (photo/panorama). The video can capture 1080p@60fps and its secondary camera is 1.2MP.
The iPhone 6 Plus 16 GB can be purchased at the Apple Store for only $749, while the Asus ZenFone 2 can bought at a price of $200.
