"How To Train Your Dragon 2" full movie wins big at the recently concluded Golden Globes!
The hit sequel has had a good run in 2014, and the big win definitely capped the successful year. But despite all the rave reviews, Director Dean DeBlois was the least to expect that the movie will win best animated feature.
"I was genuinely shocked when I heard those words, and it was a real high," DeBlois told CBC News. "Every award pundit had The LEGO Movie winning."
The movie competed against some notable titles including "The Lego Movie," "Big Hero 6," "The Boxtrolls" and "The Book of Life."
"It was a Golden Globes first for the How to Train Your Dragon franchise. When the first Dragon film was nominated in 2011, it lost in the best animated feature film category to Toy Story 3," CBC News continued.

The sequel has enjoyed a successful run both on theaters and on home video. Apart from being named 2014's highest grossing animation, the second installment has also sold over 2 million copies of the film on Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital HD. According to Variety, "DreamWorks Animation's "How to Train Your Dragon 2," distributed by 20th Century Fox, debuted at No. 1 on both national sales charts its first week in stores, displacing Walt Disney Studios' "Maleficent" full movie as the top-selling disc in the week ending Nov. 16."
The much loved sequel stars Jay Baruchel (Hiccup), America Ferrera (Astrid), Gerard Butler (Stoick) and Djimon Hounsou (Drago) among many, and has already surpassed other 2014 animation releases like "Rio 2" ($496M) and "The LEGO Movie" ($468M).
Meanwhile, the movie has also been confirmed to return for a third time. "How to Train Your Dragon 3" has been slated for a June 2017 release date. Although it is not sure whether fans could expect the return of some notable characters in the first two movies, Hiccup and Toothless will surely make a comeback to wow the audience for the last time.
