Last week, the "American Idol" season 14 auditions finally premiered on Fox and judges Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick, Jr. and Keith Urban welcomed aspiring contestants in Nashville and Kansas City.
The long-running audition show's determination, however, did not bring in the desired numbers for the season premiere.
According to Music Times, the first audition stop in Nashville only pulled in 11.2 million viewers - 4 million short compared to last season's 15.2 million. This scored a disappointing 3.2% rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic.
The music news outlet even thinks that "Idol" is already "on its way out" with its dismal initial numbers.
This week, however, Fox is hoping for the show to pick up its ratings with former contestant Adam Lambert joining the "American Idol" season 14 auditions as a guest judge in New York.
His substitution for Keith Urban was already previously announced but what fans didn't know was that he "auditioned" again for J-Lo and Harry Connick, Jr.
The Grammy nominee set aside some time from his very busy schedule (touring with Queen) to sit at the judges table and relive his own time auditioning for the show.
He sang a bit of "Bohemian Rhapsody," which was the actual song he used to serenade the original set of judges with back in 2009. After touring with the actual composers of the song, however, it's not a surprise that he nailed his audition this time as well.
Knowing that he had been through the entire process back in season eight, people would think that he would be more lenient toward "Idol" hopefuls. Based on the teaser videos, however, he seems to be much harder to impress than Harsh Harry.
Will Lambert, as guest judge for the "American Idol" season 14 auditions in New York, help improve ratings? Do you think Adam Lambert should become a permanent judge next season?
