Stars from England dominated the entertainment world in 2014! That's why we compiled a list of 10 British celebrities who've been embraced by Hollywood and fans all over the world!

Just this week we saw several English actors rule the awards season with their outstanding performances in their respective films.

Benedict Cumberbatch, aside from ruling the internet last year, has also been receiving accolades for his role as genius Mathematician Alan Turing in "The Imitation Game." He is joined by fellow Brit Eddie Redmayne in getting nods from the BAFTAs, Golden Globes, Oscars and practically every award giving body for entertainment.

Tom Hiddleston's popularity also increased last year as he portrayed Loki once again in "Thor: The Dark World" which was released towards the end of 2013.

Who could forget brilliant songwriter Ed Sheeran? His album, "X," was received so well not just in the US but throughout the world. The same goes for new crooner Sam Smith, who received six Grammy nominations this year!

Another British celebrity who made it in Hollywood is Cumeberbatch's "Sherlock" co-star, Martin Freeman. He earned praises and so much love for portraying both Dr. Watson in the BBC drama and Bilbo Baggins in "The Hobbit" trilogy.

Of course, One Direction is still one of the most popular musical imports from the UK.

"Game Of Thrones" actors Emilia Clarke and Kit Harrington, as well as the rest of the HBO show's cast have already become a household name all over the world.

Another British actress worth noting is Lily James who plays Lady Rose MacClare in the Emmy recognized drama "Downton Abbey." She will also portray Cinderella in the Kenneth Branagh-directed Disney live action adaption of the classic fairy tale coming out in March.
