In terms of display, the Sony Xperia Z3 has a bigger display measuring 5.2 inches compare to the HTC One M8 which is 5.0 inches. The Sony Xperia Z3 is protected by a Shatter proof glass, while the HTC One M8 is equipped with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Both smartphones run on the Android OS, with the v4.4.4 (KitKat) for the Sony handset, and the v4.4.2 (KitKat) for HTC handset, but both OS can be upgraded into the v5.0 (Lollipop) OS.

According to the stats from GSMArena, the Sony Xperia Z3 has a 20.7MP primary camera, and 2.2MP shooter. Its features include autofocus, LED flash, 1/2.3'' sensor size, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, and panorama. Its battery is a non-removable Li-Ion at 3100 mAh capacity, which can last 14 hours in 2G, and 16 hours in 3G.

HTC One M8 on the other hand, has a primary shooter at 4MP, and a second one at 5MP. Its features include 1/3'' sensor size, 2µm pixel size, automatic simultaneous video and image recording, geo-tagging, face/smile detection, HDR, and panorama. Its battery is also non-removable at 2600 mAh, that last 14 hours in 2G, and 20 hours in 3G.

The HTC One is at $690, while the 16GB variant of the Sony Xperia Z3 cost $600.
