We compare the Galaxy S5 against the Galaxy A7 to see which of these Samsung devices is worth the purchase.

Both Samsung devices have Super AMOLED screens, which can render the same resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, but the difference between the two lies in the size of their screens, and pixel density. The Galaxy S5's screen is at 5.1 inches, while the Galaxy A7 is bigger at 5.5 inches. As for the pixel density, the S5 is at 432ppi, while the A7 is at 401ppi.

The Galaxy S5's dimensions are 142 x 72.5 x 8.1 mm, weighs 145 grams, and its protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3, while the A7 measures 151 x 76.2 x 6.3 mm, and weighs 141 grams, which makes it lighter than the other handset.

According to the Fuse Joplin, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is equipped with the a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset supporting a powerful Krait 400 processor with four cores, clocked at 2.5 GHz, and an Adreno 330 GPU with 2GB of RAM. Its internal memory has two variants: 16, and 32 GB, but users can expand it at 128 GB with the help of a microSD card.

The Galaxy A7 is credited to having the a 64 bit chipset, and has two variants of processors: a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 for the LTE/3G Dual-SIM model that supports two quad core processors at 1.5GHz and 1GHz, and partnered with Adreno 405 GPUs. The second one is an Exynos 5 Octa 5430 chipset (LTE variant) with two quad core processors clocked at 1.8GHz and 1.3GHz, and they are paired with the Mali-T628 MP6 for graphics. It has 2 GB of RAM, and an internal memory of 16 GB ( it can expand up to 64 GB with an microSD card)

The S5 runs on the Android OS, v4.4.2 (KitKat), upgradable to v5.0 (Lollipop), while the A7 runs on the Android OS, v4.4.x (KitKat).

The Galaxy A7's primary camera is at 13 MP, while the S5 is at 16 MP, but the A7 beats the S5 in the secondary camera. The A7's secondary shooter is at 5MP, while the S5 is at 2MP. The Galaxy S5 has several features like the 1/2.6'' sensor size, 1.12 µm pixel size, dual Shot, simultaneous HD video and image recording, geo-tagging, touch focus, face/smile detection, HDR, phase detection autofocus, and LED flash, while the A7 has pretty much the same features, but without the sensor size, dual shot, and the simultaneous HD video and image recording.

The S5's battery is a Li-Ion with a capacity of 2800 mAh, which last 21 hours of talk time, while the A7 is a non-removable Li-Ion 2600 mAh battery.

The Samsung Galaxy A7 is worth $700, while the Samsung Galaxy S5 is at $528.
