Has the "Boyfriend" singer finally turned over a new leaf? TV audiences saw a tamer Justin Bieber on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" last Thursday.

It was a different Justin Bieber On Ellen last Thursdaye, especially because of the singer's video message following his appearance in the show. The personal message was addressed to fans, offering an apology for putting up a pretense he was an entirely different person.

Justin Bieber's career is stacked with controversy, most notable involving Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr, and her on-off relationship with Selena Gomez. Bieber's message revealed the singer has come to terms the public sees him in a negative light.

"I just felt awkward up there. I felt like people were judging me," Bieber said, referring to his celebrity status.

"I really wanted people to know how much I care. How much I care about people. And how I'm not that person to say that 'I don't give a f-k. I'm not that kid. I'm a person that genuinely cares. And although what's happened in the past has happened, I just want to make the best impression on people and be kind and loving and gentle and soft." (usmagazine.com)

The singer has been trying to make amends for the past several months, almost a year after his Miami arrest. Us Magazine reports Bieber has regularly attended church services with Kendall Jenner and Hailey Baldwin. He's also reportedly paid meals for random people, in good faith.

Justin Bieber on Ellen was expected, though the apology video was considerably made in time for the singer's 21st birthday.

"I've done some things that might not have been the greatest," Bieber said. "I just want to be able to, ya know, kind of own up to some of the things."

Bieber confessed he was nervous during the Ellen appearance, worried if he'll come across as arrogant or conceited to the audience.

"I was really nervous, and I think I was nervous because I was afraid of what people are thinking about me right now," he said. "It's been a minute since I've been in a public appearance and I didn't want to come off arrogant or conceited - basically how I've been acting the past year or a year and a half."
