It's halfway in the NBA season and at this point, injuries will plague some of the players, even the marquee ones. Dwayne Wade was ruled out of the All-Star Game in New York as he's still nursing an injury.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks are trying to address a huge gap as three of its starters are down to various injuries.
CTV News dished the latest on NBA injury news as it quoted Dwayne Wade as saying he doesn't want to aggravate his injury, which is why he will opt out of the All-Star Game at the Madison Square Garden.
"I felt like this was best," the Miami superstar said. "I wasn't going to play much either way. I think with the circumstances, I think the smartest thing to do is let someone else come in and really enjoy the All-Star experience. ... I think I owe it to the Heat fans to at least play in a Heat jersey first than go out there in the All-Star Game and play a couple minutes."
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced that Kyle Korver, the sweet-shooting Atlanta Hawks guard, will replace Dwayne Wade.
In other NBA injury news, Mavs coach Rick Carlisle is trying to answer the huge vacuum left behind by their three starters, Tyson Chandler, Monta Ellis and Rajon Rondo.
Chandler suffered a sprained left ankle and Ellis injured his hip. Rondo, meanwhile, is still recovering after he broke his orbital bone and nose.
"I'm not saying anything that's rocket science," he said. "We've got to get our best players back on the court, but we have to do it in an expeditious but prudent fashion."
Dirk Nowitzki also recognized the precariousness of their situation, as the team plays for Playoff position. "Your down three starters, that's obviously not perfect," Nowitzki said of the Mavs injury. "We've got to try to rotate for each other and play hard. I don't know what else to tell you."
