The Samsung Galaxy S5 is equipped with 5.1 inch Super AMOLED display that can render a better resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels at 432 ppi pixel density, while the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact has a 4.7 inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels at 319 ppi.

The difference between the two lies on the operating systems as the S5 runs on the Android OS, v4.4.2 (KitKat), which can be upgraded to the v5.0 (Lollipop), while the Xperia Z3 Compact runs on the Android OS, v4.4.4 (KitKat), which can also be upgraded to the v5.0.

They both have the same RAM capacity of 2GB, and an internal memory of 16GB, although the S5 has an additional 32GB. They can also expand up to 128GB with a microSD card.

When it comes to camera the Sony handset beats the Samsung handset. According to the specs from GSMArena, Sony smartphone has a 20.7 MP rear camera followed by a 2.2 MP front shooter. Its features include 1/2.3'' sensor size, geo-tagging, touch focus, face/smile detection, HDR, panorama, autofocus, and LED flash. The Galaxy S5 on the other hand, has a 16MP rear camera, and 2MP front camera. Its features include 1/2.6'' sensor size, 1.12 µm pixel size, Dual Shot, Simultaneous HD video and image recording, geo-tagging, touch focus, face/smile detection, HDR, phase detection autofocus, and LED flash.

The Samsung handset has a battery capacity of 2800 mAh that can last up to 21 hours, while the Sony smartphone has a 2600 mAh battery that can only last 14 hours in 3G.

The Samsung Galaxy S5's price range is at $528, while Amazon.com stated that the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact 16GB 4G LTE is at $474.94.
