We compare the Apple iPhone 6 against the Samsung Galaxy S5 to see which of these smartphones is worth the purchase.

Based on the specs from GSMArena, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is equipped with a Super AMOLED display that measures 5.1 inches, and can render a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels at 432 ppi pixel density. Its screen is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3, and its IP67 certified, meaning its dust and waterproof. Its dimensions are 142 x 72.5 x 8.1 mm, and weighs around 145 grams.

Meanwhile, the Apple iPhone 6 has smaller LED-backlit IPS LCD screen measuring 4.7, and has lower resolution of 750 x 1334 pixels at 326 ppi pixel density. The smartphone is lighter at 129 grams with the following dimensions of 138.1 x 67 x 6.9 mm, and has a shatter proof glass for protection.

In terms of hardware and OS, the Apple iPhone 6 is powered by the latest Apple A8 chipset, along with a dual-core processor clocked at 1.4 GHz, and a PowerVR GX6450 for graphics. It has three variants of internal memory at 16, 64, and 128 GB. It has 1GB of RAM and its software is the iOS 8, which can be upgraded into the iOS 8.1.3 version.

For the Samsung Galaxy S5, it has a powerful quad-core processor at 2.5 GHz, being paired with a Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset, and an Adreno 330 for graphics. It has a bigger RAM capacity 2GB, while its internal memories are at 16, and 32GB. In order to reach 128GB, users need to have a microSD card and it runs on the Android OS, v4.4.2 (KitKat), upgradable to the v5.0 (Lollipop).

Both smartphones have impressive cameras, but the Samsung handset has better specs than the Apple handset. The Galaxy S5 has 16MP rear camera and 2MP front camera, compared to the iPhone 6's 8MP rear camera and 1.2MP front camera.

The Galaxy S5 has a battery capacity at 2800 mAh that last 21 hours, while the iPhone 6 is equipped with a 1810 mAh battery that last up to 14 hours.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 cost around $528, while the iPhone 6 16GB variant is worth the $649.
