Actress and "Running Man" regular Song Ji Hyo is considering a role in new drama. If she takes the role, Song will play the role of film producer Kim Soo Jin in the tvN Friday-Saturday drama "Ex-Girlfriend Club."
On March 4 C-JeS Entertainment reported that she was favorably reviewing the drama but that nothing was confirmed. But Korean media outlets have reported that it is very likely she will take the role.
Her co-star would be Byun Yo Han, who played an unconventional office worker in the surprise cable hit "Misaeng"
In "Ex-Girlfriend Club" he plays Bang Myung Soo, a cartoonist who creates a webtoon about his four ex-girlfriends.
His exes include a sexy actress, an older divorcee and a woman who thinks very highly of herself. Despite the fact that they broke up with him, they all still love him. That is they love him until they see themselves turned into characters in his webtoon. Revealing his romantic past through the webtoon does not make is exes very happy and it also doesn't do much for his reputation.
Although the webtoon damages his reputation, it doesn't hurt his bank account since the rights are purchased so that it can be made into a film. At least he will be rich.
The film's producer is Kim Soo Jin. She decides to produce the film as a last-ditch effort to save her failing production company. But when she meets the cartoonist she discovers that she also has a history with him. And that is sure to complicate the making of the film.
As well as sharing some history Kim Soo Jin and Bang Myung Soo have something else in common. She can't stop thinking about her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend, so she knows what it's like to obsess about an ex.
As the film is made, Byun Yo Han must face what happened in each of the relationships. And at one point all four ex-girlfriends show up in the same place.
It has been a year since Song Ji Hyo's drama role. "Emergency Couple," which ended in April 2014, was a ratings winner. She played a divorcee doctor in that drama, which also starred Choi Jin Hyuk, Lee Pil Mo and Clara.
Kwon Suk Jang, who directed "Pasta" and "Golden Time," will direct "Ex Girlfriend Club." Lee Jin Mae, who wrote "Secret Agent Miss Oh" and "I Am Sam," is writing the screenplay.
