"The 100" had just aired the finale episode for its second season but season 3 spoilers revealed that fans definitely have something to look forward to in the forthcoming episodes.
As reported by CarterMatt, Richard Harmon, who plays Murphy on "The 100" took to Twitter to announce that he has been promoted to a series regular on season 3.
"I guess since my boss already tweeted it I can say it, I'm coming back as a series regular next season. Honestly a dream come true. #The100," he said.
Showrunner Jason Rothenberg replied:
"@RichardSHarmon No need for publicists in the age of Twitter, my friend! You've made the show better since the pilot. Well earned! #The100"
Harmon's announcement didn't come as a surprise to many given that his character, Murphy, played an important part in the storyline. Spoilers for "The 100" season 3 teased that his character would play a pivotal role in the upcoming episodes.
In the season 2 finale, viewers saw Murphy discover an underground hideout. At first, everyone thought that Murphy found a promise land but the secret of the place soon came to light.
Speaking to ET Online, Harmon revealed the truth behind his discovery.
"It's a fallout shelter, a bomb shelter, built by the guy who developed the artificial intelligence that we meet at the end of the episode (the hologram woman)," he said.
"He's sort of the Elon Musk, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates character who developed a program that went sentient and that essentially ended the world. Now what that means going forward is what will surprise people. We're supposed to connect those dots at the end," he added.
Rothenberg also revealed a few spoilers of his own. He teased that the Grounders will still be present in "The 100" season 3 as a result of Lexa betraying the Sky People.
"Clarke of the Sky People managed to wipe out their single enemy single-handedly, or so the legend will go, and what does that mean going forward for the rest of the 12 clans in the alliance at the table still? What does that mean for Clarke and Lexa? What does that mean for peace on the ground? I think it'll be interesting to see the legend of Clarke of the Sky People grow."
