Microsoft is scheduled to launch the Lumia 640 and 640 XL in India on April 7, cites GSM Arena.
Microsoft has sent invites to the press stating that the new devices will be launched, with a note saying "Inspiration doesn't only work 9 to 5."
Microsoft Lumia 640 is rumored to be priced at INR 9,999, which is roughly around $161, while the Lumia 640 XL will likely retail for INR 13,999, which is around $226.
As for the specs, the Microsoft Lumia 640 has a 5-inch IPS ClearBlack display with a 720p resolution and a ppi of 294, while the Lumia 640 XL has a 5.7-inch IPS ClearBlack display with the same resolution as the Lumia 640 but a lower ppi of 259.
Both smartphones run on Windows 8.1 operating system with the latest Denim update, offering features like the one-swipe Action Center, Live Folders and Word Flow. The company added that both devices will get a Windows 10 operating system update within this year.
Under the hood, the Microsoft Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL run on a Snapdragon 400 chipset clocked at 1.2 GHz with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 128 GB through a memory card. The said device has 30 GB of free space on OneDrive.
In terms of camera, the Microsoft Lumia 640 has a 1MP camera on the front and 8MP camera at the back. On the other hand, the Microsoft Lumia 640 XL has 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera.
When it comes to the battery, the 5-inch screen device powers on 2,500 mAh while the Lumia 640 with 5.7-inch screen has a 3,000 mAh battery with a maximum standby time of 29 days and 23.7h on maximum talk time on 3G.
