It's not easy being Khaleesi.

"Game of Thrones" actress Emilia Clarke revealed the arduous process of turning into Queen Daenerys of the House Targayen, First of her Name, Mother of Dragons, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, and Breaker of Chains.

With the airing date for "Game of Thrones" season 5 fast approaching, the 28-year-old actress said that her character's signature long, flowing blonde hair is not real.

"This is all wig," she said per Daily Mail. "There's nothing real here. It takes two-and-a-half hours every day."

After playing Daenerys Targayen for five seasons now, Emilia Clarke said that she's gotten quite comfortable with the twists and turns in the show, including the part when she had to shed clothes every now and then.

"We've been able to take it to a very real level. It was never pretending to be a show for kids! It's gritty in a good, realistic way," she said. "There are other women who remove items of clothing on Game Of Thrones, so they've got my nipple count down now."

Emilia Clarke certainly came a long way from when she started on "Game of Thrones" back in 2010, including one time when the actress had to eat a horse's heart.

"It tasted like congealed jam, with a hint of bleach. I did the occasional double-take during season one when I saw the script but now, less so," she said.

Her efforts certainly paid off as her character, Khaleesi, is one of the fan favorites heading into "Game of Thrones" season 5, along with Tyrion Lannister, Arya Stark, Jon Snow and Sansa Stark.

But it doesn't mean that her character is safe, however, with penchant of "Game of Thrones" producers-and author George R. R. Martin-to kill off major characters.

"As an actor it keeps you on your toes, genuinely not knowing who's gonna go next. It's about keeping the audience guessing, which is the joy of it. But I've got faith in Dany - she's not going anywhere," Emilia Clarke said.
