It feels like the end of an era as "Mad Men" launched the much talked about series finale.
The show premiered the second half of its final season on Sunday, April 5. The actors, however, reportedly couldn't seem to let go when the time came to ceremonially strike the sets after filming the last episode.
The first of Mad Men's final seven episodes is rolling into what looks like a much-talked about series finale.
According to E! News, creator Matt Weiner comes from the world of "The Sopranos," which arguably had one of the most talked about series finales of all time. This means that viewers can expect awesome things from "Mad Men's" end.
The big question is, how will it do so?
Weiner defines it as something of a "caption contest," as he usually arrives at an image he wants, and then interprets what it means and how to get there.
The cast, including Christina Hendricks, Elisabeth Moss, Kierman Shipka and Jon Hamm, reportedly had some emotional thoughts about the finale, too. And to remind them of the eight long years they spent starring on the American period drama television series, Shipka, Moss and Hendricks snagged mementos from the set. However, Don Draper himself did not opt to take anything, according to Us Weekly.
Jon Hamm said he took nothing other than delightful memories. He reportedly added that most of it was rented, so taking it would literally be stealing.
Elisabeth Moss took home Peggy Olson's red thermos, while Vincent Kartheiser (Pete Campbell) said he went home empty-handed. Christina Hendricks (Joan Harris), on the other hand, took things from Joan's apartment, including a serving tray, glasses and a picture. Hendricks said these things make her smile every time she sees them.
John Slattery (Roger Sterling) took home the desk from Roger's office, "with permission," he added. Kiernan Shipka (Sally Draper) kept Sally's necklace as a little memento.
The AMC hit drama debuted in 2007. The story followed a group of New York advertising executives and their families all through the 1960s.
