On April 14, tvN released a second trailer for the upcoming romantic comedy, “Ex-Girlfriend Club.” “Ex-Girlfriend Club” stars Byun Yo Han (Socialphobia, Misaeng) as Bang Myeong Soo, a webtoon writer who uses his experiences with women as his source material. When his webtoon is optioned for a film, he is forced to deal with the jilted women whose stories were made public. Song Ji Hyo portrays Soo Jin, a producer who is given the task of adapting Myeong Soo’s webtoon in a film. She later discovers that the writer is one of her ex-boyfriends, who incorporated their relationship in the series.
In the latest teaser, Myeong Soo jumps in and out of bed with the Soo Jin and the different women he considers to be exes. It is a comedic contrast to the first teaser for the K-Drama, which portrayed Myeong Soo as a somewhat cowardly guy who was fleeing from the women who were chasing him.
"Ex-Girlfriend Club" marks the K-Drama return for Song Ji Hyo, who is best known as one of the cast members of the popular variety show, "Running Man." Although, she has previously appeared in Korean dramas, she won the hearts of fans as Oh Jin Hee in the 2014 tvN medical romance series, "Emergency Couple."
Jang Ji Eun (Tree With Deep Roots) portrays Jia, one of the other girls that Myeong Soo has left in the dust. Lee Yoon Ji (Dream High, The King 2 Hearts) also stars in the series as his ex-girlfriend, Hwa Young.
The teaser hints at the racy subjects which could be explored through the series. Past dramas from tvN such as “Marriage, Not Dating,” “Misaeng” and “I Need Romance 3” have demonstrated the potential for the network to realistically cover issues that afflict adults.
“Ex-Girlfriend Club” is a series from the producer of “Miss Korea” and the scriptwriter who created “I Am Sam.”
“Ex-Girlfriend Club” will premier on May 8.
