"The Fight of the Century" between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather ended up as a dud, but speculations are swirling that there will be a rematch in September.
According to Gulf Life, Floyd Mayweather Sr. has stated that September will be the last fight of his son. He said: "He ain't got nothing left to prove," after Mayweather won over Manny Pacquiao on May 2.
"He's fought pretty much all the guys that's around here. All the hard hitters. There's nothing left to do. My son needs to take this contract and end it. He's out of tough fights."
He added that Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao rematch "ain't necessary" as he believes that "the same thing will happen" again.
However, Manny Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach said that of the two fighters are "very close," and he added that "we'd love to do it again."
Furthermore, M Live reported that if there will be a rematch between Pacquiao and Mayweather, the Filipino fighter will not be ready in September due to a shoulder injury that supposedly limited him in the mega fight.
"Floyd says he's going to fight in September and we certainly won't be ready to fight in September," said Bob Arum, Pacquiao's promoter.
"That, you can go to sleep on. That's an impossibility, as far as September is concerned."
Meanwhile, as other fans wanted to see a rematch between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White has disclosed that he does not want to see a rematch.
"No [I don't want to see a rematch]. But, I think that there are people who do and a lot of people out there who don't. They'll make money, they can do it and make some money. But, they won't make this kind of money. A rematch would make money, but who knows what they will do in boxing," cited MMAmania.
