It looks like Rusev and Ziggler are on a collision course, and both WWE superstars will be in the Chamber Match for the vacant Intercontinental Championship at the upcoming Elimination Chamber on May 31.
Monday Night RAW saw the storyline split with Rusev and his mouthpiece Lana. WWE was building towards the split for quite some time.
Rusev and John Cena's long-time feud boiled down in a "I Quit" match for the United States Championship at WWE Payback. The two combatants gave their best shot and refused to utter the humiliating words, "I Quit." During the brutal match, Lana quit for Rusev and this was the final straw in their relationship.
It was no surprise to see the Bulgarian Brute flipping out on Lana on RAW this week, asking her go back where she came from. The Ravishing Russian ended up siding with Dolph Ziggler and even kissed him twice, embarrassing the mighty Russian Rusev. But that's not all, Lana then took to her Twitter to talk about her heel-face turn and new freedom from Rusev, according to records on Sports World News.
"I've helped him make decisions for a long time and now I make them for me," Lana tweeted.
This has unquestionably sparked a feud between The Showoff and Rusev in a flash and this is sure to play out over the next few weeks or even months on WWE.
In his first public comment since his split with his valet Lana, Rusev spoke to Tom Philips in a WWE.com to talk about the events that unraveled on Monday Night RAW.
Philips replayed the footage where Lana kissed Dolph and got a pretty much expected reaction out of the Super Athlete.
"Why are you showing me this?!" Rusev said. He further added that "she misunderstood me when I told her to leave. I didn't say goodbye forever. I didn't have enough time to explain to Lana what I meant. I treated her with nothing but respect and the next thing I know Lana turned her back on me. Because of one man. Dolph Ziggler will get crushed. I am gonna rip off his arm and eat his American heart."
Dolph and Rusev will square off in the Chamber Match at Elimination Chamber for the Intercontinental Championship, which was forfeited by Daniel Bryan as a result of an injury. Joining them will be Sheamus, Neville, Ryback and R-Truth.
That being said, Rusev and Lana were at the peak of their collective power and no doubt, they could be a possible main event pair, Bleacher Report noted.
The big question is, was the split between Rusev and Lana a huge mistake on WWE's part as their breakup definitely leaves a lot of potential on the table.
