On May 31, Sports Donga published an article which focused on the upcoming enlistment of JYJ's Yoochun (Park Yoochun). According to the report, Yoochun will begin his mandatory military service on August 27. The singer and actor will follow JYJ's Jaejoong, who enlisted on March 31, 2015.
Representatives for his agency, C-Jes Entertainment, confirmed the report through the release of a statement. "Yoochun will enlist in the military on August 27," said the representative in a report published by Star MT. "In addition, we do not have any other specific details to tell you."
On May 30 and 31, he delivered two fan meetings at Korea University's Hwajeong Univesity.
The 28-year-old Hallyu star debuted in 2003, a member of TVXQ. After departing from the group due to contract disputes, he joined JYJ. In July 2014, JYJ released their third album, "Just Us." "Just Us" provided a multifaceted perspective on the trio's music, prior to the beginning of their enlistment.
Yoochun delivered cameo roles in several dramas before he officially debuted as an actor in the 2010 Japanese mobile drama, "Beautiful Love." His first K-Drama role was in the hit period comedy, "Sungkyunkwan Scandal." He received several awards for the role, before starring in the 2011 melodrama, "Miss Ripley." His other notable roles include his portrayal of a Joseon era ruler who is transported into the future in "Rooftop Prince" and a secret service agent who is thrust into an espionage plot in "Three Days."
His most recent K-Drama role was his portrayal of Choi Mu Gak, a violent crimes detective, in "The Girl Who Sees Smells." He also received the honor of Best New Actor in Film at the 51st Baeksang Arts Awards for his role in the critically acclaimed movie, "Haemoo."
