Suge Knight has claimed that he has a video that could prove his innocence in the murder charge filed against him.
The music mogul has been charged with murder, attempted murder and two counts of hit-and-run in connection to the case where he ran over the victim at a hamburger stand in California on Jan. 29.
Suge Knight told the court that the video will hopefully show that he was the victim in this case and just acted in self-defense after he was "viciously attacked" by the same man.
"Attorney Tom Mesereau gave few details on the video in a motion submitted on Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, including how it was shot and how Knight obtained it," said Daily Mail.
The lawyer told the court that Suge Knight was actually trying to flee the scene in fear of his life, based on the video recording.
"Most significantly, the video discloses one of his attackers brandishing a weapon. When this armed attacker dropped his gun, the video depicts an associate retrieving the weapon and placing it in his waistband," the lawyer said.
The video claimed by Suge Knight would exonerate him from the murder chage was not shown in court.
"The video is part of a renewed effort to reduce Knight's $10m bail on murder and attempted murder charges. It is unclear whether the footage will be shown in court at a bail hearing set for 17 July," said The Guardian.
Suge Knight pleaded not guilty during his arraignment for the murder charge. This wasn't the music mogul's first brush with the law as he was a major player in the gangsta rap scene in the 1990s.
His lawyer also begged the court to give Suge Knight medical access for his various ailments like high blood pressure, diabetes, among others. It was said that the founder of Death Row records was blind in his left eye and partially blind on his right.
