Ryan Gosling's wife Eva Mendes, who played agent Monica Fuentes, is reportedly in talks to rejoin the "The Fast & The Furious 8."
According to We Got This Covered website, Eva Mendes returning to the franchise "is almost a done deal.
"A source close to the production tells We Got This Covered that the current plot of the eighth film actually hinges on her character, who played a significant role in 2 Fast 2 Furious and cameoed in Fast Five, and it's pretty much a sure thing that Mendes will sign on," it said.
Reportedly, Eva Mendes' character will team up with Dom, played by Vin Diesel, and Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) to take down a new villain in New York.
"Additionally, conversations about Helen Mirren and Jason Statham both playing villainous roles in the pic, are still taking place, with the latter reprising the role of Deckard Shaw from Furious 7," it said.
"Our source wouldn't confirm that either is definitely signed on, but that their names are still coming up as the octoquel continues to develop does lend validity to the possibility of their involvement."
Three months ago, Umberto Gonzales broke the news on her Instagram that Eva Mendes could return to "The Fast & The Furious 8." the journalist wrote, "FAST & FURIOUS 8 #RUMOR With #fast7 now in the record books, the upcoming NY based #Fast8 story will depend on whether they can bring back Eva Mendes' character: US Customs Agent Monica Fuentes."
Previously, Vin Diesel promised that the eight installment in the franchise is going to be epic. "The Fast & The Furious 7" crossed the $1 billion mark in under 20 days.
"I swear to you and to my brother upstairs [Walker], we are going to make the best movie you've ever seen," he said.
