Kim Go Eun has become the latest actress to turn down the leading female role in "Cheese In The Trap."
Her agency, Jangin Entertainment said that her decision to pass on the role did not reflect the quality of the work.
"It is true that she was offered a role in 'Cheese in the Trap,' and it was one of the works that we were examining. It was a good original work so we gave it a lot of thought, but in the end, we decided to decline the offer."
Finding just the right person for the leading female role is taking longer than expected. Suzy Bae already turned down the role of feisty college student Hong Seol in the manga-based drama.
But not to worry, say representatives for the cable station. The casting process is still underway. Kim Go Eun, who appears in the hit film "Coin Locker Girl" and "Memories of the Sword," was only one of several actresses up for the role.
"The auditions are currently in progress," a tvN official told the Korean media outlet Newsen. "We will be making a decision soon. Nothing has been decided as of yet."
Hong Seol may be a hard role to fill because fans of the original drama are passionate about the characters and who will portray them. When Suzy Bae was up for the role, fans complained that she was nothing like the character. Some said she was too pretty. Hong Seol is a hardworking student but she's cynical and suspicious of her good fortune. She cannot believe that her perfect boyfriend is as perfect as he seems. And she's right. His character Yoo Jung is manipulative and has secrets.
Meanwhile, the casting of Yoo Jung was decided early on, with Park Hae Jin playing the perfect student.
The rest of the casting still has some time left. The drama is not due to air until October. Lee Yoon Jung will direct the drama.
