Kate Middleton's hair is the current talk of the town these days. Her gray roots, that is.

Hairdresser to the stars Nicky Clarke reportedly criticized Kate Middleton for letting her gray hair show, possibly forgoing hair dye sessions to keep her mane chestnut brown.

"Kate needs to get rid of her grey hair - it's not a good look," Nicky Clarke said, according to Daily Mail.

"She does have amazing things done to her hair and it can look great, but unfortunately it's the case for women - all women - that until you're really old, you can't be seen to have any grey hairs."

Nicky Clarke, who has also served as a hairdresser for Princess Diana and the Duchess of York said being a style icon that she is, Kate Middleton should not forgo taking care of her hair - including keeping its color."

"It's different for men," Clarke added. "Men can go grey in their mid-50s and still be considered attractive - it's the whole silver fox thing - but it's not the same for women. Kate is such a style icon that even a few strands of grey would be a disaster, so I highly recommend that she cover it up. I hate grey hair."

On the other hand, some came to Kate Middleton's defense and said maintaining a chestnut hair color may not be on the top of her priorities, especially after giving birth to Princess Charlotte recently.

"How about the fact that when Kate was most recently spotted with gray roots in February she was pregnant with her daughter, Charlotte, and it's possible she was laying off the hair dye for the health of her baby?" Beth Shapouri rhethorically asked in her article in Glamour.

"A woman's choice to color her hair is just that-a choice, definitely not a must. And even if the Duchess prefers her hair color brown and not gray, well, if she doesn't always make that her first priority is that really that major of a problem? For anyone? It certainly doesn't seem to be for her and shouldn't be for anyone else either."
