Joo Won returns to the complex realm of medical dramas in the SBS Wednesday-Thursday series, "Yong Pal." While he portrayed a tortured pianist in "Tomorrow's Cantabile," Joo was brilliant as a surgeon plagued by Autism in "Good Doctor." In "Yong Pal," he portrays Kim Tae Hyun, a surgeon who adopts the alias Yong Pal to serve as a rogue mercenary doctor-for-hire.
Kim Tae Hee (My Princess) is Han Yeo Jin, a conglomerate heiress who emerges from a coma to deal with unusual circumstances.
Yeo Jin is a modern-day sleeping beauty, whose medically-induced coma leads Yong Pal down a rabbit-hole of corporate espionage and greed.
The series airs in the 9:55 p.m. KST time slot previously occupied by the melodrama, "Mask."
Eugene (Eugene Kim) returns to her position as one of the most prominent idols-turned-actors with her role in "All About My Mom." In the KBS2 series, the former S.E.S member portrays Lee Jin Ae, a woman who maintains a contentious relationship with her mother.
Jin Ae falls in love and marries Kang Hoon Jae (Lee Sang Woo), then dreads dealing with his mother.
"All About My Mom" serves as the first K-Drama role for Eugene since the birth of her daughter in April 2015.
"All About My Mom" premieres on August 15 on Saturdays and Sundays in the 7:55 p.m. KST time slot previously occupied by "House of Blue Bird."
"The Eccentric Daughter-In-Law" stars Sistar's Dasom as Oh In Young, a former idol group member who appears on a scripted reality show which bears similarities to "We Got Married." Once the member of a popular K-pop quartet, In Young struggles to regain her status through her role on the variety show, which pits her against a fictitious mother-in-law.
In the series, seasoned actress Ko Du Shim portrays the evil mother-in-law Yang Choon Ja, while Ryu Soo Young (The Attorney) is Cha Myeong Seok, the man who In Young falls in love with in real-life.
"The Eccentric Daughter-In-Law" premieres on August 17. The series will air on KBS2 in the Monday-Tuesday 9:55 p.m. KST time slot.
On-going series to check out include jTBC's "Last"." "Last" stars Yoo Kye Sang (The Full Sun, The Greatest Love) as Jang Tae Ho, a once-successful man who plunges into homelessness following a series of failed stock investments. He translates his business skills to emerge as the leader of a secretive group of homeless people who fully exploit the poor and indigent to rise towards the top.
Lee Bum Soo follows his terrifying role in the "Divine Move" and his ensemble performance in "The Beauty Inside" to portray Kwak Heung Sam, in the compelling K-Drama.
