One Direction has reportedly decided to take a break for at least a year, leaving fans devasted and searching for answers.
1D has definitely been through a lot over the past year, with Zayn Malik leaving the group after a cheating scandal in Thailand earlier this year, and Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson having their fair share of personal ordeals.
According to reports, One Direction's reported split up will not be until March.
"They'll spend the next six months continuing their latest world tour, before launching a Christmas album in December then honouring all their promotional commitments throughout February," Daily Mail reported.
One Direction is one of the most popular groups worldwide. It also seems that they're getting along with one another quite well, at least in terms of work. So, what is the real reason behind the split up?
"The guys have been together for five years, which is an incredible run for any boyband," a source told The Sun, as quoted by Hollywood Life.
"They fully deserve to have at least a year to work on their own projects. There is absolutely no bad blood between them and they are all 100 per cent behind the decision."
This makes sense especially since 1D members have reportedly been offered various projects indivudually. It was rumored in April that Louis Tomlinson was offered a movie deal in Hollywood. Mirror reported that Louis allegedly had several meetings with Los Angeles scriptwriters for the movie project.
However, Louis reportedly couldn't leave 1D World Tour just as what his band mate, Zayn Malik did. This reportedly made him decide to drop the movie offer and concentrate on his group's concert series.
Is One Direction's split up this for good?
"It is definitely not a split, and they fully intend to get back together at some time in the future. But for now it is the end and they go out on top as the world's most popular music act," the source added.
Some speculate that the temporary split up was caused by Zayn Malik leaving the group. However, the source claimed that the decision had nothing to do with Zayn.
"This was the plan with or without Zayn," Hollywood Life's insider claimed. "In fact, the band have been making amazing music and been incredibly happy without Zayn. Of course they would have preferred that he had stayed in the band, but they would have taken this extended hiatus even if he hadn't left."
