The rating juggernaut, "Yong Pal," will be extended for two episodes. On September 13, SBS confirmed the extension through statements published in a report published by the Korean outlet, Newsis.

"Yong Pal two-episode extension is confirmed," said a spokesperson for SBS. "The broadcast will end on October 1 with episode 18."

The representative for the hit drama went on to request continued support for the series while promising to deliver quality screenwriting. "I will do my best to create more interesting characters in the drama, for the rest of the broadcast," said the production team member. "We ask for continued support."

"Yong Pal" premiered on August 5 and continues to record high ratings. On August 27, the series recorded 20.5 percent in nationwide ratings, which remain the highest numbers for the drama.

Starring Joo Won and Kim Tae Hee, the series appeals to viewers through its unique storyline involving Yong Pal or gangster doctor. Joo Won portrays the title role of Kim Tae Hyun, a rogue surgeon who resorts to caring for members of organized crime, in order to raise money for his sister's medical treatment. Kim Tae Hee is Han Yeo Jin, an heiress who emerges from a medically-induced coma to seek revenge against her enemies.

Confirmation of the two-episode extension comes on the heels of the 12th episode, where Tae Hyun was captured by law enforcement while Yeo Jin attended her own funeral.
