Not much news has been heard about Christina Aguilera since she left "The Voice" as a mentor. It has also been years since the "I Turn To You" singer has released new music.
But according to a news report, Christina Aguilera is cooking something up, and she is allegedly determined to prove that she's still one of the greatest singers of her generation.
"Christina has sat back while people like Britney Spears and Mariah Carey have attempted to pack in the crowds in Vegas, and she knows that she can blow them out of the water," a source told Dish Nation.
"She loves her gig on 'The Voice,' but she's afraid that people are forgetting how talented she is and she wants to be back in the spotlight," the insider added.
According to latest news, Christina Aguilera is allegedly setting her sights on a project that would prove that she's still in equal fotting with bigwig singers - a residency in Las Vegas.
"Christina is a really hands-on mom, and she used to think that undertaking something so big as her own Las Vegas show wouldn't allow her to be with her kids as much - but she's had a sudden change of heart," the insider continued.
"She thinks a Vegas show would be perfect for her mommy schedule because she could have her days with the kids and be a diva on stage at night. It's exactly what she wants!"
However, the news report claimed that Christina Aguilera's partner, Matthew Rutler, is allegedly not fully on board the idea.
"Christina could have a deal inked tomorrow if she wanted, but Matt isn't too thrilled with the idea," the insider said. "He doesn't want to uproot the family and play Mr. Mom while Christina goes back to her popstar roots."
Some speculated that Christina Aguilera's aspiration to land a Las Vegas residency is due to her drive to show "The Voice" people that she still has a hot career even without the show.
According to previous news rumors, "The Voice" staffers allegedly didn't want Christina back on the show because of her "diva" ways.
"She was really difficult to work with this season. Tensions between her and Adam were consistent, but she also just had a really bad attitude," a source close to "The Voice" production told Radar. "She showed up late a lot, took forever for hair and makeup and was just very demanding."
