Benedict Cumberbatch excels in playing stoic characters such as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Spock, but he couldn't keep himself from making faces at his son during a stroll with wife Sophie Hunter around London.

"He appeared every inch the doting father, with the baby resting peacefully on his shoulder. The fact they were both wearing blue outfits completed the picture," said Daily Mail.

At one point, the actor tried to make his son laugh by making funny faces while the infant was lying on the stroller which Benedict Cumberbatch was pushing.

The actor announced his engagement to Sophie Hunter by running an add on a paper, which is a British tradition for couples. The couple reportedly rushed their wedding to make sure they are already married before the baby arrived.

The "Sherlock" star and his wife welcomed their son in June.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter's rep released a statement confirming the successful delivery.

"Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are delighted to announce the arrival of their beautiful son," the statement said. "We would kindly ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during these next few precious weeks."

The short statement was reminiscent of the announcement that Sophie Hunter was pregnant when their rep issued a statement in January this year that read, "I am delighted to confirm that Benedict and Sophie are expecting their first child. They are both over the moon."

"Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter reportedly named their son, Christopher Carlton, which People described as "the most dapper moniker of them all."

The middle name Carlton by Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter's three-month-old is a family tradition that has been passed down through generations, the article claimed. His father carried the name, and so does the "Sherlock" actor.

Aside from "Sherlock," Benedict Cumberbatch is also playing "Hamlet" on broadway, which was well-received by both fans and critics alike.
